Next logo - Cool or Corporate?: editor

December 10th, 2007

So its been updated for a while, but whats everyones opinion of the new Next logo? Just in case you haven’t seen it - check it out below :

next clothes shop logo

So all they’ve really done is rounded off some edges and switched to a lower case text - big deal? Will actually, I think it is - as one of the premium and dominant forces on the UK Highstreet for the last 20 years, Next has built itself an unassailable reputation as a safe and quality clothing supplier for a variety of ages and occasions. So did they really need to come up with a brand new logo with a whole new identity? No.

Well, my dear clothes shop fans, why change it at all? Now this i do understand - the old logo was very nineties - perhaps even 80’s ( i can’t remember much from that era :-) ), it was in big black capitals, and may have even been a little aggressive! This new one is far more friendlier - and I concede it does look a little cool!

Ok, all of this is a long way round asking - who’s got your favourite logo and whose do you hate ( and why!! )

edressme.com - Prom dresses from across the water!: editor

December 6th, 2007

The purpose of this blog was alwayys to bring you reviews and news from online and offline clothes shops, although to be fair, we have mainly focused on the main players within the UK highstreet clothes shop arena!

So for a little change - i have great pleasure to introduce you to www.edressme.com - a fantastic online clothes shop from America! Before I tell you more about them, its important to let you know they do cater for a UK audience ( in fact they ship products pretty much globally!! )

So whats so great about them? Well, they seem to cater for a niche in the market of providing dresses and gowns for specific events - so prom dresses ( American term, but becoming more prevalent in the UK - so my daughter tells me! ), holiday dresses, cocktail dresses - even celebrity dresses!!! Which i found a great benefit when clicking around their site!

The look and style of their site is also very cool - a few of our UK counterparts should take note - online clothes shops should be cool - this is the fashion industry after all!

Have a look, and as ever let us know what you think!

Laura Ashley Has Something to Offer: editor

December 5th, 2007

Laura Ashley is one of them brands we have all heard of, but probably couldn’t tell you exactly what type or style of clothing they sold ( or even if they sell clothes!! ) - well luckily for all of us clothes shoppers out there - they do!!

laura ashley logo

The Laura Ashley brand has always been perceived as being of quality and almost elitist - however, having scouted their website and been to one of their stores ( just off Oxford Street dahling - how splendid! ), I have to tell you that they provide high quality merchandise, but at a price tag thats not unaffordable - not cheap either I have to tell you - but not as obscene as you may expect!

Take this black satin dress for example :

Perfect for a Christmas ball or cocktail party -and beluieve me when its on, you can tell its quality, it even made me look sexy, and thats no easy task ( oh go on then, i’m being hard on myself! ), and at

Top 5 Christmas Clothes Shops: editor

December 3rd, 2007

Try saying that after 5 glasses of mulled wine! So it really is the busiest clothes shopping time of year - all us clothing shoppers are in overdrive, what with Christmas presents to buy, work christmas parties to attend and New Years celebrations to look forward too, the need for new garments is at its height!

So where should you prioritise for your Christmas season clothing needs? As ever, clothes-shop.net is here to help :

River Island - ok, so we love River Island, always have done, probably always will do! But for party wear this is your starting shop! For men and women, River Island shops carry an amazing selection of clothing and footwear which could be used for an informal do at the Dog and Duck, or for something a bit more upmarket at a nice Restaurant, and then on to a club ( feel a hangover coming on just thinking about it! ).

This season is all about sophistication, and River Island certainly do this in an abundance -

Christmas Gifts and Shopping at Next Clothes: editor

November 1st, 2007

Well there’s so much going on in the world of Clothes Shopping I was torn on what to blog to you all about today! On the one hand there’s plenty of slaes on down the High Street ( ok, just quickly, River Island and TopShop are the best - i’ll blog more, but in the meantime get down there!! )

However, whats really caught my eye is the Next website ( www.next.co.uk ) and their obvious slant towards Christmas shopping. Now I have long been both an advocate and a critic of Next in terms of clothes shopping for differing reasons. On the one hand, I find their stores uninspiring and guilty of being too safe, but the clothes ranges have managed to keep up with the times, and their quality is undisputed. So what they have done with the website, in my opinion, is perfect.

Its good looking, easy to navigate, maintains the Next brand, and is a “must add to favourites” for anyone looking to do any clothes shopping online. It basically just replicates the Directory, but is laid out in such a way that it is easy to shop.

So on my daily trawl of the clothes shopping sites ( oh what a job! ) i was intrigued by the Christmas gift section being promoted on the homepage of www.next.co.uk - always one to take inspiration I clicked through. I was not disappointed!

What immediately hits you is that Next are so much more than just clothing - they do everything ( well, not everything - but everything I need!! ) - home furnishings, flowers, chocolates and wine!! Heaven! They have even introduced a gift finder called Santa’s Helper! Needless to say, ontop of the compulsory ( to me anyway ) clothes shopping, i have now also purchased Christmas presents for several nearest and dearest. All of which I would probably not have thought to go into the high street incarnation of Next for! So a big thumbs up for the Next online store and Christmas here I come!

Another one of our favourite sites! Oli has some real gems. The Maria Grachvogel Backless Tunic is my latest favourite, and I’m tempted to try out one of the many fabulous Ki mono’s they have!!

Oli has items from Firetrap, French Connection, Jodie Kidd, Killah, Pepe, Ted Baker, as well as others.

If you fancy treating your man to something too, there’s a good selection of Men’s clothes (I like the Firetrap jacket’s!), as well as a technoligy section - including everythingfrom latest phones, digital cameras, to fridge freezers!!

Add another bookmark to your list, this time it’s www.oli.co.uk!!!
